Booster Club meeting!


·        
Monday, August 28that 7:30 in the band room.


·        
All parents are
members of the booster club so come see what marching band is all about! 


·        
Door prizes and band
spirit wear and items for sale!  Koozies,
seat cushions, cups, shirts, etc. 


Calendar update:  The band will not be competing on Sept. 30 in the Walterboro
competition!

Please check the Stratford bands website
for the updated fall calendar which includes games and competitions and
rehearsal dates and times.  Competitions
are mandatory for the students in marching band. 


·        
Please contact Mr. Smith if you have a
question or your student will miss any rehearsals or competitions.  There is an Absentee form that needs to be
filled out (in the band room and on the website) for any absences. 


·        
Please
remember the rehearsals on Tuesday August 8 and Thursday August 10 from
4:30-7:00.  This is before school resumes


Band Camp Week 1


·        
This week starting on Monday, July 24thwill start band camp for everyone! 
Please read below for important information for camp.  Camp is Mandatory for all
marching students!


·        
All new parents that we have received
packets from have been added to the website. 
Web blasts will be sent out all during marching season with information
for the upcoming week and events. The calendar on the website will also be
updated so you can check that for dates for competitions and get them on your
calendar. 


·        
 Put
on your running shoes parents…. here we go!! 


Band Fees


·        
The Band fee for the 2017-2018 school year
is $350.00.  Guard and percussion
students have an additional $30.00 fee for the equipment/gear usage and
specialized instructors.  The payment
schedule is:


            1st Payment – Deposit of
$75.00 due no later than July 1st


            2nd Payment - $70.00 due
August 1st


            3rd Payment - $70.00 due
September 1st


            4th Payment - $70.00 due
October 1st


            5th Payment - $65.00 due
November 1st


 


·        
Payments
can be mailed to

or
put in the money box in the band room. Please put your payment in an envelope
with your child’s name and what the payment is for!


 


Camp Schedule 


·        
July 24-28       Full Band & Guard Camp from
8:00-6:00,

Friday
July 28th Half Day 8:00-12:00

July 31–Aug 4 Full Band &
Guard Camp 8:00 – 6:00

 Friday August 4th Full Day and
Exhibition at 5:00 for parents!  


o  
Come
visit the band information table before the exhibition to purchase band items,
order show shirts, ask questions, turn in paperwork and pay band fees. 


 


Band
Packets Due
!


·        
Please
return your filled-out band packet on the first day of camp!   Parents need to keep the information
pages!  The blue Medical Form needs to be
filled out front and BACK and signed by a parent.  Be sure to take off the first pages in the
packet that contain important information for parents.  There is a full packet under the forms
section on our website or your student can pick one up from Mr. Smith.


·        
If your student
turned in an incomplete packet it will be coming home with a paper telling what
needs to be completed.  Please return
these asap.
  


·        
Please
do not turn in any band packets or money to the Stratford High School main
office!! Give to Mr. Smith!


 


Camp starts at 8:00
sharp! 
 Arrive early to be on
time!  Pick-up time is 6:00pm
For the safety of our students, please do not pull up in front of the
band room at the curb to pick up your student!
 Please find a parking spot and be ready for
your student when they dismiss. Parents are not allowed in the band room while
the director is dismissing the students.


Students
will need to bring the following to camp:


  • Completed
    band forms (if not already sent in)
  • A
    personal water jug with a handle is best! 
    Be sure they are drinking plenty of water all week!!
  • Towel
    -beach or large bath towel.  They
    will use these to sit on inside and outside. 
  • Dress
    is comfortable shorts, shirt and tennis shoes.  Athletic clothing works well. It will be
    hot!
  • Sunblock
    and hats for outside. 
  • Eat
    a healthy breakfast (avoid milk and
    dairy products
    in the mornings before camp)
  • Bring a lunch and snacks!!
  • A change of clothes is helpful.


We are asking for
donations of powdered Gatorade for camp and rehearsals!  Blue or Yellow only.
  We have some students
with allergies to the red and orange colors. 


Attendance is MANDATORY!  if your student will
miss any part of camp or will miss a rehearsal during the school year make sure
they have turned in the green absentee form to Mr. Smith.
  These are available in
the band room or you can print one off the website.

All Parent Volunteers must register with Berkeley County Schools:


All Parents who wish to volunteer with the band
(concessions, chaperoning, props, dad crew, fundraisers etc.)  must go online and fill out a volunteer
registration form on the Berkeley County Schools website.  Go to
www.bcsdvolunteers.comand fill out the form and submit.  Please
let us know when you get a clearance email. 


**Parents Needed! 


The
Band Booster club is still in need of
Concessions leaders in training
for this marching season (fall). Our
current concessions leaders are Shawn and Wendy Edgin who are needing to
“retire” after running the concessions for 2+ years.  They have organized concessions and are ready
to train and work with 2 to 4 parents who can take over.


 


Concessions
and band fees are the main sources of income for our band!  Without this income, the band would not be
able to perform or compete.  If you think
you may be interested in helping, please contact Shawn or Wendy Edgin and give
them your name.  If we can get a few
parents to split the job it will be less work for everyone. 


 


Concession Leaders Responsibilities:


·       
Concessions
leaders are busy for only 2.5 months in the fall!


·       
Coordinate
concessions breakout at start of season and pack-up at end of season


·       
Make
all food and supplies purchases needed for concessions at home games


·       
Call
and schedule parents to work in concessions from main volunteer list


·       
Maintain
concessions volunteer list, coordinating with Volunteer coordinator


·       
Turn
in attendance of volunteers to Treasurer for appropriate volunteer credits


·       
Purchase
waters/Gatorades and ice for band travel (away games/ competitions)

2 or 3 dedicated parents/guardians


o  
Freshman or Sophomore parents/guardians or
2 to 4 people/friends


o  
It is at least a 2-person job but 3 or 4
would be fine too!


o  
Need to have a flexible schedule during
marching season for buying food and Friday night set up at stadium

this is something you are interested in. 


 


Stratford Fall Football Program Advertisements are available!
